Sam Overton & Oaks Cassanova head to World Cup Finals
Queenslander Sam Overton and his pocket rocket Oaks Cassanova are set to represent the Australian league at the World Cup Finals in Omaha, Nebraska (4-8 April).
The pair secured the Australian league series win in the final leg at the Summer Classic in Sydney at the end of last year, earning them an invitation to compete; an offer that Sam has now accepted.
Oaks Cassanova, aka Ed, flew out of Melbourne with IRT on 15 February, then after 7 days quarantine at FJK, New York – which is now just about complete – he will be on his way to his new home away from home at a family owned showjumping stable near the World Equestrian Centre in Wilmington, Ohio.
Sam plans to prepare for the World Cup Final by using the WEC Winter/Spring weekly shows, which offer similar conditions to what the pair can expect in Omaha.
Equestrian Life looks forward to following Sam and Ed’s journey!
