Malin Baryard-johnsson’s successful show jumping partner, Butterfly Flip has passed away at the age of 30.  

Baryard-johnsson and the bay Swedish Warmblood mare had an extremely successful partnership, winning team Silver for Sweden at the European Championships in Arnhem in 2001, at the World Equestrian Games in Jerez in 2002, and also claiming team Silver for Sweden at the Athens Olympic Games, in 2004. 

The fast and careful combination were also labeled the world’s best horse and rider combination in 2003, and continued to represent Sweden at the highest level, throughout the duration of their career together.

Baryard-johnsson shared a post to her Instagram page, which read: “A very dear old friend has left us, the absolutely amazing Butterfly Flip. So many unforgettable memories she gave us all! And what a journey we did together! This very special lady thought me so much as a rider! Im very very thankful to Kristina who gave me the opportunity to work with this one of a kind personality and superstar for more than 12 years. RIP dear Flippan, you are forever in my heart.”
