By Equestrian Life
The starting order for the Grand Prix Special at Tokyo 2020 has been released ahead of tonight’s highly anticipated team medal decider.
Eight countries will be in contention for the Team medals as the final 24 riders take to the dressage arena at Baji Koen equestrian centre from 6:00pm AEST.
The riders have been split into three groups, with the first two groups to ride in reverse order of the team ranking from the Grand Prix qualifier.
As the eighth placed team, Spain will open the night with Severo Jurado Lopez riding Fendi T, followed by Portugal’s Maria Caetano and Fenix De Tineo.
The order of the final group will be decided during the 60-minute break at 8:45pm AEST and will be based on the provisional ranking of the teams once the first two groups’ scores have been finalised.
Whichever team is placed 8th after the first two groups have ridden will lead the final group, with the 1st placed team riding the final test of the night.
The eight riders who will decide the final fate of their teams are Spain’s Beatriz Ferrer-Salat, Portugal’s Rodrigo Torres, Sweden’s Therese Nilshagen, The Netherland’s Edward Gal, the USA’s Sabine Schut-Kery, Denmark’s Catherine Dufour, and Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin.
