Stuart Tinney leads “Tokyo” class at Sydney 3DE with Celebration

By Equestrian Life

The Sydney International Three-Day Event is underway at Sydney International Equestrian Centre, and as advertised it really is proving to be a clash of the titans!

The headline class of the event, the Ariat CCN4*S class, has been designed as an Olympic practise event that provides competitors with the chance to experience a format that is similar to what will be offered at Tokyo – including the Olympic dressage test.

As you would expect with such a high quality field of Aussie and New Zealand Olympic hopefuls, there were many sub-30 dressage tests. Stuart Tinney and Celebration continue their good form, and currently lead the field on 26.8 despite an error of course. NZ’s Madison Crowe is in second with Waitangi Pinterest on 27, followed by Stuart Tinney and Leporis in third on 28. Next is  Shane Rose and Virgil on 28.8, Clarke Johnstone (NZ) with his former Adelaide winner Balmoral Sensation on 29.6, Shane Rose and Easy Turn on 31.4 (inc and error of course), Bundy Philpott (NZ) and Tresca NZPH on 31.5, Western Australia’s Sonja Johnson and Misty Isle Valentino on 32, and Hazel Shannon and Clifford on 32.3.

Very, very close and definitely anyone’s class heading into tomorrow’s cross country!

In the Bates Saddles CCI4*S, Sam Lyle and BF Valour lead the field on 25.9. Jessica Rae and Rascal also produced a sub-30 score to end the day in second on 27.7. Tara Rogers and Denison Park Smooth lead the Kohnke’s Own CCI4*L class with a score of 34.6.
