A painter, rider, pilot and race car driver — as well as a wife and mother — she has followed a life shaped by courage, curiosity and creative freedom. Through every chapter, horses have been her constant presence, grounding her and reflecting the spirit that flows through her art.
A lifelong conversation between horse, art, and imagination
Growing up on a farm without ponies only intensified Susie’s longing for horses. Long before she was allowed one of her own, that desire found expression through imagination and ingenuity — riding bullocks, training rams to pull prams, and filling her childhood with drawings of the horses she dreamed of. When she finally received her first pony at the age of ten, the bond was immediate and enduring.
Painting, she explains, came just as naturally. Guided by instinct and a sharp eye, Susie’s work captures not competition, but connection — the quiet teamwork between horses and people wherever they live and move together. Her paintings are not static depictions, but living expressions of experience, truth and shared presence.
