The 2019 Yarralinka Victorian Futurity, held from 16th – 22nd September at Tatura Park, was not only the final Australian Cutting Futurity show for 2019, it was also the host event for the NCHA Australia vs USA Non-Pro Challenge and included the annual Ladies Pink Cutting – Cutting 4 Cancer fundraiser.

Kaarimba based Lindsey Wheatley emerged victorious in the 4Cyte Open Futurity, scoring an impressive 222.5 aboard Petas Sugar Rae to win the title ahead of 4Cyte sponsored riders Todd Graham on Yaven Spinacat in 2nd place (220) and Corey Holden on Garteralicious in third place (218.5). For Wheatley, who finalled three horses at the NCHA Futurity in Tamworth earlier this year and was also the winner of the Open Derby at the Victoria Futurity aboard Reyving Lunacat, this was an outstanding result to top off a strong season.

The Non-Pro Futurity saw Jackie Graham and Rey Baby Rey take the win ahead of Amelia Servin and Hava Kit Kat, with Jackie and Amelia also placing first and second in the Open Non Pro aboard One Stylish Turpentine and QXH Bonitas Stylish respectively.

The NCHA Australia vs USA Non-Pro Challenge is held annually, with Australia hosting the event every second year, and America performing host duties in alternate years. The host nation’s team supplies horses for the visiting nation’s team riders to show; this year, Team Australia emerged victorious after three rounds of fierce yet friendly competition. Sponsored by Yulgilbar Quarter Horses and SDP Buffalo Ranch, the event is a prestigious and fun opportunity for non professional riders to compete internationally and build friendships with like minded riders from across the world.

Held annually at the Victorian Futurity, the Ladies Pink Cutting feature event showcases the sport of cutting whilst raising funds for Women’s Cancer. This year, the event raised $8,435 for the Foundation for Breast Cancer Care. With over 50 ladies competing, Trudy Holden won the class aboard Reylee Play on 220 points, with Madison Crum and Sinead Moran just 0.5 behind to share 2nd place on 219.5.
