With adversity comes opportunity, and the outcome of Queensland’s largest performance horse sale, the Supreme Online Birthday Bonanza Sale speaks for itself. Bidding soared to new heights and a sale gross figure of $900,750 was achieved.
Traditionally, the Supreme Sale is held in Toowoomba in April, however as a result of Covid-19 restrictions the Nutrien Equine team chose to postpone the sale to August and conduct it online, utilising the Auctions Plus online sales platform.
The sale, which included Australian Stock Horse and Quarter Horse yearlings, ridden horses and broodmares, successfully sold 97 lots averaging $9,286.08, with Supreme Sales records smashed in every major category.
A top price Supreme Sale record was broken by two spectacular ridden mares. Major vendors of the sale J&G Pastoral (Trinity Stockhorses) offered a beautiful 4-year old mare trained by Leah Read in LOT 77 – TRINITY ACRES ELISE (Acres Destiny X Kirkbys Stud Elsie), who sold for $38,000 to a Queensland purchaser. Lyra View Trading presented yet another very attractive 4-year old mare in LOT 84 – WYENA IDLE (Binnia Ideal X Clarkeville Kathryn) who also sold for a record breaking $38,000 to Michael & Marion Glasser of Ashlar Stud, Wodonga.

Ridden gelding entries were strong with a line-up of quality lots on offer. Top price honours went to W&C Baumann’s lovely 4-year-old entry in LOT – 120 MIEL LENA OAK (Miel Lethal Style X Shameless Oak) selling for $14,500 and headed up to Queensland.
Five quality stallions were available in this online sale, with LOT 106 – RHONDHU SPINS RED DUCK (Blue Duck Oakie X Shania Spin) on account of the Rhondhu Stud taking out this section. This talented Novice stallion was purchased for $17,000 by Lois Cameron from Queensland.
The yearling entries continued to impress with Stephen Kneipp’s stunning filly in LOT 9 – KNEIPPS ECLIPSE (Wallabah Excel X Kneipps Destinys Child) breaking yet another sale record, selling for $32,000 to the Comet Downs Cattle Co in Queensland.

There was a remarkable line up of yearling geldings on offer. With Brian and Kayleen Suttons very impressive entrant in LOT – 39 SHEADY NASHVILLE (Royal Heart Throb X Sheady Maggie May) topping this category selling for $13,000 to Dean & Sam Pollard from Sahara Park Wagyu in Qld.
This year’s line-up of broodmares showcased strong depths of breeding and proven performance backgrounds. It was LOT – 144 SPINS ENCOUNTER (Doc’s Spinifex X Freckles Peppy Bar) on account of J&G Pastoral’s (Trinity Stockhorses) that raised the bar with yet another sales record, selling for $21,500 to the Velvet Quarter Horse Ranch in NSW.

The sale drew enormous attention on the Auctions Plus Platform, with 1,400 registered bidders, almost 4,000 logged in viewers, nearly 19,500 online catalogue views and 276 active bidders placing 1,444 online bids.

The 2021 Supreme Sale is set to be a big one, with 2020 and 2021 incentive eligible horses having their opportunity to take home a piece of the prize pool of $160,000 worth of cash and prizes.
