The PetCircle 2025 Australian Jumping Championships are underway at Boneo Park, with the first of five action-packed days complete – including the opening rounds of several major championship titles.
Round 1 of the Equestrian Life Australian Children’s Championship opened competition on the main arena today, with Eliza Abrahams and Emcee Street Wise claiming the win. The pair produced one of 27 clear rounds from an impressive field of 43 competitors, finishing quickest in 60.69 seconds. They edged out Eliza Baird and Bling Du Rouet (60.95), while Luiza Dias and Marucio Molinda JB rounded out the podium (64.12). Round 2 of the Children’s Championship takes place tomorrow afternoon.

The Young Riders were also in action for Round 1 of the 4CYTE Australian Young Rider Championship. The class, held against the clock, saw Cody Tincknell and Numero Too add nothing to their time of 61.27 seconds to secure the win. They finished just ahead of Hayden Parker and Tulara Spangenberg (61.53), with Alexander Jang and Parallax SCF (64.29) in third.

This afternoon, Australia’s elite seniors took to the arena for Round 1 of the PetCircle Australian Senior Championship – also run as a competition against the clock. No stranger to success at the Nationals, Tom McDermott piloted Cooley Gangster to a lightning-fast win in 66.81 seconds. Jamie Winning-Kermond and Tulara Wat Colblensky placed second (71.40), while Tom also claimed third aboard Oaks Ventriloquist. Despite lowering a rail, their speedy 67.68-second round – plus four seconds added for the fault, totalling 71.68 – kept them ahead of many who jumped clear.
Tom has previously claimed the Senior Championship title three times: in 2012, 2019 and 2022. Could he make it a fourth this year?
The Senior Championship features an impressive field of 35 combinations and promises fierce competition through to the final on Saturday, following Round 2 tomorrow.
