Australian carriage driver Tor Van Den Berge is preparing to compete at the FEI Driving World Championship for Pair Horses, scheduled for 20-24 August in Beerkbergen, The Netherlands.

Van Den Berge is entered with three horses owned by Leo Van Der Burgt: 11-year-old KWPN geldings Jaquar and Jayton, and nine-year-old KWPN gelding Lars VS.

Fourth championship start

No stranger to the FEI Driving World Championship for Pair Horses, Van Den Berge has represented Australia at the event on three previous occasions. At the 2023 World Championship in La Pin au Haras, France, Van Den Berge was ninth with Carbery Estate Chino, Carbery Estate Cato, and Kerosine, while at the 2021 World Championship in Kronenberg, The Netherlands, he was tenth with Carbery Estate Chino and Carbery Estate Cato. Van Den Berge also competed at the 2019 World Championship in Drebkau, Germany with Flavian and Heineken, finishing 18th.

Carbery Estate Chino, Carbery Estate Cato and Kerosine have all gone on to join Van Den Berge’s four-in-hand squad and were part of the bronze medal winning Australian team at the 2024 FEI Driving World Championship for Four-In-Hand in Szilvásvárad, Hungary, as well as the recent Nations Cup winning team at CHIO Aachen.
