Vassily de Lassos claims EquiRatings Horse of the Year 2021 title
By Equestrian Life
Over 10,000 votes from all corners of the world have made Vassily de Lassos the EquiRatings Horse of the Year for 2021!
Vassily, ridden by Andrew Hoy and owned by Paula and David Evans, is the first horse representing Australia to have ever won the award. Andrew and Vassily have had 17 internationals together and only three times been outside the top 5.
At 12 years of age, Vassily is youngest of only five horses in the world with an Elo rating over 800 (814). He is also one of the fastest horses in the world (has only added 8 seconds IN HIS ENTIRE CAREER) and one of the best jumpers (one pole ever with Andrew). A top 5 at WEG, an individual bronze and team silver at Tokyo (only horse to FOD) and now the EquiRatings Horse of the Year for 2021.
Congratulations Vassily, Andrew and all those connected with this amazing horse!
