Victorian Dressage Festival wraps up at Werribee

The 2025 High Horse – Ulcer Armour+ Victorian Dressage Festival concluded on Sunday afternoon following four action-packed days of competition at Werribee Park National Equestrian Centre.

Sunday morning began with Jordan Smith claiming victory in the Pauline Carnovale Advanced Freestyle aboard Penny Hill Park Francesca, topping the leaderboard on a score of 70.908%. Michelle Baker finished second with Escala RW on 69.942%, while Annabelle Webb secured third place riding Salient Park Prince with 67.000%.

Michelle and Escala RW were named the Advanced Champion on Saturday following strong performances in both the 5.2 and 5.3 and were also awarded the Gert Donvig Memorial Trophy. Penny Hill Park Francesca was named the Reserve Champion.

Annabelle and Welsh Cob gelding Salient Park Prince (Cwmkaren Tywysog Harri x Burrowa Ladylight Express) were named the Advanced Pony Champions on Saturday, following their winning 5.2 and 5.3 tests. Annabelle edged out her mother, Toni, who was named Pony Advanced Reserve Champion with Salient Park Once Again – the full younger brother to Salient Park Prince.

It was a great event for the Webb family, with Toni also enjoying success on Sunday riding Germany Riding Pony gelding Freemans Lodge Global. The pair won both Pony Medium tests with scores of 69.865% and 73.462% and took out the Pony Medium Championship. Earlier at the event, Freemans Lodge Global – who was crowned the 2025 DJWTS Young Dressage Pony Champion of Champions at Werribee back in March –was named the Sabble Farm Young Pony 6YO State Champion. Global is by Numerus Clausus out of St.Pr.St. Hilkens Givenchy (Dreidimensional).

Speaking to Equestrian Life earlier this year following their win at DJWTS, Toni said of Global: “He’s pretty exceptional. All of my ponies are great, but he’s just out of this world.”

The Victorian Dressage Club Intermediate I Freestyle saw another win to Sonik K for Karen Blythe, with the duo scoring 69.250%. Second went to Antony Bartlett and Laurel View Tyson VDS on 68.350%, and third went to Javais Ham and Mayfield Fez on 68.075%.

The Whittlesea Plenty Valley Dressage Club Intermediate A/B Freestyle went to Tanisha Ryan, who claimed a decisive win aboard Jembrae Rattle N Hum on 70.784%. Catherine Skinner finished second with Dobria de Jeu on 66.484%, while Justine Greer placed third riding Bloomfield Sekuona on 65.958%.
