Australian Kristy Oatley has enjoyed a successful weekend of competition in Poland; riding Du Soleil, she won both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special classes at CDI3* Zakrzow.
At 17 years of age, the Hanoverian gelding by De Niro continues to be a wonderful competition partner for Kristy Oatley. Showing their experience in Poland, the pair won Friday’s Grand Prix with a score of 72.174%, ahead of Sweden’s Jacob Noerby Soerensen in second place riding Moegelbjergs Romeo to score 70.413%. In the Grand Prix Special, Kristy and Du Soleil won on a score of 73.298%, with Jacob Noerby Soerensen again placing second, however this time riding Sheeran on a score of 69.702%.
Since acquiring Du Soleil in 2014, Kristy Oatley has formed a wonderful partnership with the beautiful chestnut gelding and enjoyed much success on the international stage, including representing Australia at the Rio 2016 Olympics and World Equestrian Games in Tryon in 2018. More recently, the pair scored 73.913% in the CDI-W at Pilisjászfalu, Hungary, in May 2019. This was an Australian CDI Grand Prix record score at the time, before Simone Pearce overtook it with Destano in 2020.
